When the University of Nebraska Corn huskers take the field during the 2011 season, all of us at NICD will be watching. Specifically, we’ll be following offensive linemen Michael Caputo, brothers Jake and Spencer Long, and Aaron Hayes, along with Scarlet dancer Ashley Petersen. All five have been our patients since childhood and we’ve had the privilege of seeing them grow up to excel both academically and athletically.

While it’s clear that Ashley embodies the spirit of the Huskers, it’s important to point out that Michael, Aaron, Jake and Spencer do as well. All four are walk-ons who were offered scholarships to play football elsewhere but chose to stay and play for the program they had set their sights on since youth.  This season they will play integral roles for the Huskers as the university enters its inaugural season in the Big 10 Conference.
We are honored to know such fine young individuals and we wish them and their parents, Tony and Maryann Caputo, Doug and Ann Long, Bill and Jodi Hayes, and Andy and Fran Petersen the best that this season has to offer. We’ll be rooting: Go Huskers!

Michael R. Sesemann, DDS, was among several international lecturers invited to address the Future of Restorative Dentistry Leadership Summit, held recently in Orlando by Ivoclar Vivadent, a global dental product innovator.
